About the role

As part of the Data Science Team at Freight Science, you will develop algorithms to tackle some of the most complex optimization and logistics challenges in the supply-chain space. You will acquire a detailed expertise of a critical sector of the economy, and use that expertise to craft strategies, analyses, and insights to help our customers thrive. You will collaborate closely with our data engineers and software developers to deploy your models to production code that directly impacts our customers’ ability to make informed decisions at scale. This role offers an opportunity to mentor colleagues and contribute to company-wide data strategy and data quality efforts.

Location & Commitments

  • This is a full-time position based at our headquarters in St. Louis, MO.
  • Freight Science offers flexible remote work options.
  • Occasional travel may be required for remote team events and meetings.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Math, Physics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field (advanced degrees are a plus).
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in data science and analytics.
  • Proficiency in applying machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems.
  • Proficiency in Python
  • A fearless attitude towards exploring data systems and crafting scalable solutions.
  • Strong software development practices, including code reviews, software design, iterative problem-solving, and decomposition of complex challenges.
  • Ability to extract valuable insights from diverse, dynamic, and messy datasets with a focus on big data / distributed data technologies on cloud-hosted platforms.
